Opening for Business In August

I’ve been working out a timetable for everything. Next weekend, I’ll be returning to Manchester, New Hampshire to start laying down the groundwork for my move.

If all goes according to plan, my goal will be to officially open for business as a comics professional on August 1-2…which coincidentally will be the second anniversary of the Sunnyville Stories blog! So how exactly am I going to make money off of this passion of mine?

Comics – Individual episodes of Sunnyville Stories, my small press comics series, will be available via Indy Planet for the general public and via Comics Monkey if you are a retailer interested in stocking my work. It’s in the cards as well to get my small press comics into actual comics shops. Remember that you can still purchase copies of Sunnyville Stories episode 2, episode 3, episode 4, and episode 5 as well as the Sunnyville Sketchbook through Indy Planet. Copies of the above may still be available through New Jersey based mail-order house M&T Comics and Cards. Optical Sloth also might be willing to part with their review copies. I anticipate releasing episodes 6 and 7 later this year. Work on the sixth episode will start this summer once I get settled in.

Trade Paperbacks – Right now, everything is proceeding on schedule for me to release the very first volume of Sunnyville Stories by August. Like the above, this will be sold through comics shops as well as Indy Planet and Comics Monkey. However, the trade paperbacks will bear an ISBN owned by myself so that it can be carried by retail bookstores. These will be available through Amazon.com as well as brick-and-mortar bookstores. In addition to a trade paperback this summer, I anticipate releasing Sunnyville Stories Volume 2 sometime in 2014.

Prints – Prints of my artwork starring the characters of Sunnyville Stories will be sold through DeviantArt. In fact, you can take a look at my DA store to see what I have there. Prints with the Sunnyville characters will be available for purchase as well as other things like postcards, magnets, mugs, and even jigsaw puzzles!

E-Comics – Digital versions of my small press comics will be available through Indy Planet as well as through Lush Comics. At present, all that’s available at Lush Comics is the second episode of Sunnyville Stories. I will make the other episodes available on there by July and August.

Google AdSense – This summer, I’ll be retrofitting the blog to take advertising via Google AdSense. Pulling income through that service is a part of my business plan. This means I’ll have to ratchet up quality of my blog posts and have plenty of material.

Private commissions – I will also be taking on private commissions sometime this summer. A formal announcement will be made when that happens.

That’s my plan. Remember that I’m counting on all you readers and fans out there to support me and do what you can to spread the word about Sunnyville Stories and all the other neat small press comics out there. I can’t do it without your help.
