Goemon Tanuki and Episode 9

I’ve been quite busy working on the inks to Von Herling, Vamipre Hunter as well as working on selling my products.  I haven’t had as much of a chance to work on Sunnyville Stories episode 9.

That has changed.  Today, now past the halfway point of the inking to Von Herling, I’ve resumed pencils on episode 9.  I’m around page 7 of the pencils and will continue working on it today and tomorrow.

Today, I thought I’d share the character sketch I’ve come up with for Goemon Tanuki, who comes to Sunnyville to join his relations and operate the new grill at the Banzai Japanese restaurant.

Goemon Tanuki

This is what I came up with. I had the idea for Goemon in my head for a long time; this was the first concrete design I produced. At first, i was going to have him as a rather fat raccoon dog like his uncle, Goro. It didn’t feel right and I came up with this instead.

Goemon wears a happi coat like Goro does and always wears a hachimaki (headband) while working the grill.  That’s where he’s usually found.  When not cooking for guests at the grill, he’s helping out in the kitchen with the food.

Goemon is quite good…perhaps too good.  That’s the focus of the story that will unfold.

That’s all for now.  Be sure to look for me at Librari-Con on Saturday, August 31 in Fayetteville, NC.
