The plan for 2014

I have some news here. First, I had expected to finish inking Sunnyville Stories episode 9 by Christmas. But it looks like it won’t be finished in time for that. I probably won’t be able to finish it until after Christmas.

Anyway, this year is almost out and I need to look ahead to next year. It’s been almost a year since my publishing company, Different Mousetrap Press LLC, launched. I put out few more installments of Sunnyville. But most of this year was spent on putting together Sunnyville Stories Volume 2 and my graphic novel Von Herling, Vampire Hunter.

This was a lot more challenging that I expected. The second volume was intended to be better than the first one since I was learning from the mistakes I made. Whatever mistakes I make with this volume – I’ll learn for volume 3. The challenges of doing an entire graphic novel on my own (Von Herling) were even greater. But I triumphed in the end.

My plans for 2014 will be basically to continue to work on Sunnyville, promote the aforementioned books (schedule for release in March), and prepare the third volume. I may even go as far to plan the fourth volume (due out in 2017). As a publisher and a businessman, I have to think ahead to the future. I also need to get more awareness for my products. I’ve garnered critical acclaim so far from some trade journals and the blogosphere. That’s not bad, but there’s so much more I can do. The early print run of Sunnyville Stories volume 1 has sold fairly well. Most of the micro print run has been sold out. I only have a handful of copies on hand. I plan to have a bigger run done soon enough thanks in part to Kickstarter (watch this blog for details).

So for 2014, my plans will be to continue to work on promoting Sunnyville Stories, marketing myself, and planning for the future. While I’m pleased with my progress so far, there’s so much more I can do. It won’t be easy, but I’m positive I can succeed.
