The Year 2014 in review and looking to 2015

This year, 2014, was quite a year for me.  The biggest event of the year was moving myself and Different Mousetrap Press (the publisher of Sunnyville Stories) from the state of North Carolina halfway across the United States to the state of North Dakota.

What’s more is that the second volume of Sunnyville was released along with my graphic novel Von Herling, Vampire Hunter earlier this year.  Good reviews have rolled in from the Midwest Book Review as well as from the blogosphere.  A number of libraries have also acquired copies of these titles, which also enhances the appeal and prestige of Sunnyville.

The only downside of the year was my Kickstarter failing.  But I’ve learned from that and have since moved on.

I wish that I had more exposure too.  I’m more of a cult figure than a household word.  Nonetheless, I don’t expect to rest on my laurels.  I have big plans for the coming year of 2015.

Once Sunnyville Stories #11 is finished, I plan to go straight into doing Sunnyville #12.  What’s more is that I need to get Sunnyville Stories Volume 3 together.  (On another note, that cover you see on the Goodreads page is NOT the final cover; that’s the solicitation cover.)

Besides Sunnyville #12, I will be getting much of the third volume together.  I have to assemble everything I need for that such as the bonus features, the ISBN and the Library of Congress registration.  The plan is to put the book to bed by June 30, 2015 and release the book on January 15, 2016.  I will be promoting the work through summer and fall, especially to the libraries already carrying my books.

The bigger challenge for me in 2015 is to keep working on my marketing.  I’ll be working to get some more exposure in the local media such as my hometown newspaper, the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, and the local Fargo Monthly magazine.  I plan to look into some advertising towards potential readers and to get more reviews of the Sunnyville books.  This isn’t easy but I aim to do this.

There’ll be a more complete trailer for Sunnyville Stories Volume 3 around August 2015.  In the meantime, I will continue to promote the work with the teaser I’ve created.
