Two brief announcements need to be shared today. The first is my preliminary convention schedule. After attending Fargo-Moorhead Comic Con, I need to really work the convention circuit to network with other local talent and do what I can to promote Sunnyville Stories. Two more conventions are scheduled this year at the same location as the previous event I mentioned, the Baymont Inn & Suites in the vicinity of West Acres Mall.
The first is less than two months away and is called Fargo Corecon. Scheduled for June 11th through June 14th, I plan to attend there for at least one day. This is more of a science fiction, fantasy, horror and anime convention than a straight-up comics convention. Nevertheless, I will be there with my business cards and another promotional item (more on that in a minute).
The second is AnimeFargo, which is schedule for September 18-20, 2015. I’ll have more news about these and other events as time goes by so stay tuned to the blog.
Besides networking along with business cards and direct mail, I have another tool ready to generate publicity for Sunnyville and get more sales. Dave Sim is the one that was the source of that idea.
Back in 1992, Sim put out a comic book titled “Free Cerebus”. Its purpose was to be given out for free so that potential readers could see the artwork, learn about the series and decide if they wanted to buy it. So then I got an idea…why not do the same for Sunnyville Stories?
Free Sunnyville will be a 12-page minicomic/digest that contain a brief overview of the series along with sample panels, individual plots, and a few of the characters who appear in the series. This will be posted up on my DeviantArt gallery and there’s going to be copies printed up too. Those printed copies will be given out for free to various customers as well as vendors, libraries and the media for promotional purposes.
There’ll be more information on this project soon so stay tuned to the blog!
