The next move

I have returned from the New York tour.  It has left me changed forever.

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for their support.  Some of my fans, my friends and even my mentors offered their moral support after the intense stress of the last few days.

Second, I am back home safe and sound in Fargo, North Dakota.  I’m not content though to just plop down and rest.  Remember the sabbatical I talked about before?  I’m getting ready for it even though it will not fully begin until after I finish Sunnyville #14.

Max West's drawing instruction books

Already, I’ve been thumbing though these texts.  The titles I have here are:

  • Understanding Comics By Scott McCloud
  • Making Comics By Scott McCloud
  • Perspective for Comic Book Artists By David Chelsea
  • First Steps Drawing in Pen & Ink By Claudia Nice
  • The Art of Basic Drawing By Walter Foster Publishing
  • Drawing Basic Subjects By Barron’s

I saw the schedule for the Plains Art Museum too regarding figure drawing sessions.  Plus, a couple of online drawing forums will prove handy for me to show drawings and get feedback.

As I have vowed before, Sunnyville #14 will be finished.  When I finish that work, it’ll mainly be my sabbatical from here on.  That’s not to say I’m stopping comics.  While the next stories of Rusty and Sam won’t continue till next year, scripts will be written.  On top of that, the planned Sunnyville annual will be released this June.

Stay tuned to this blog as I will continue to update it.
