Well, friends, I’m back to work on comics. But first a few announcements…
First, my allies at Carmine Street Comics have started a Patreon to support creators. Be sure to check it out and make your donation!
Second, the annual MoCCA Festival is taking place this weekend in the New York City area. So if you’re around there, be sure to head on over! Check out my write-ups on the past events to see what they were like.
Anyway, as for the comics, work on Sunnyville Stories #14 continues. While working on layouts on scrap paper, I had to consult my book of collected Little Nemo comic strips.
This is the Complete Little Nemo by Winsor McCay that was released by Taschen Publishing. This is really amazing to read. McCay was ahead of his time as his comic strip employed such imagination and technical know-how not seen at that time (comic strips were in their infancy at the turn of the century when this first appeared).
Anyway, as I’ve said before, Little Nemo is one of two special guest stars in this story (the other being Cerebus the Aardvark). Some of the pages in this story will be a homage to the Little Nemo pages; I’ve had to study the certain pages and make notes of what to show.
The final story will clock in at around 35 pages. But when I collect this for Sunnyville Stories Volume 4 (planned for 2018 release), I’m debating doing an extended scene to this.
There’s a sample of what I’m currently inking.
That’s all for now.
Copies of Sunnyville Stories Volume 1 are still for sale on Amazon, both in print and Kindle formats! While you’re there, be sure to pick up Sunnyville Stories Volume 2 and (if you love Gothic horror) Von Herling, Vampire Hunter! And now available is the latest installment of the saga, Sunnyville Stories Volume 3. Get them today!
Copies of all the above titles are available to the library trade via Brodart Company and to retailers from Ingram and Baker & Taylor (via BCH Distribution). Copies are also available direct from the publisher. For ordering information, contact maxwestart(at)gmail(dot)com or write to:
