The Second Kickstarter

Today, I have an announcement to make.  While I’ve mentioned this on Twitter and the Sunnyville Stories Facebook page, it’s time to make the news official.

On January 8, 2017, I will launch a Kickstarter to fund some Sunnyville comics.

The comic to be printed will be the Sunnyville Stories Super Special #1.  It will contain Sunnyville #13, Sunnyville #14 plus one bonus story not available anywhere else.  The above photo you see is a mock-up of the final product; a final cover will be produced in the future.

The Kickstarter will run for approximately thirty days from about Jan. 8 to Feb. 7, 2017.  Our goal will be to raise a sum of US$350 to print up about 30 copies of this comic; these comics will be individually signed and numbered.  The rest of the money raised will go to shipping out these books to people who donate a certain amount (more on that in a minute) as well as to cover any unforeseen costs and applicable taxes & fees.

As for the planned reward tiers, this is what I’ve come up with.  Anyone giving US$1 will get their name printed in the back of the book in the donor list section.  Anyone giving at least US$5 will get a FREE digital copy of the Sunnyville Super Special in PDF format.  Anyone who gives US$10 or more will get both of the above PLUS a signed & numbered copy of the super special mailed to them anywhere in the world!  That’s right – if you’re in Canada, Germany, England, Japan, etc, you’ll still get a copy of the book mailed out to you.

At the time this blog post is going live, I’m writing a draft plan of the Kickstarter.  I’m planning out text to write, how the Kickstarter will work, how to promote it and a basic strategy for the 30 day run.  All of the above information is still subject to change as I have more calculations to run and details to work out.

I know what some of you are thinking.  You remember the first Kickstarter I ran and how it completely failed.  Some of you probably believe that a second one will NOT succeed either.  Things are much different now than they were when I ran the first one.  I understand the mistakes I made on the first one.  Back then, I tried to do too much too fast and I didn’t have the number of fans I have now.  Plus I’ve been studying other Kickstarters and successful creators to see how they met their goals.

Between now and January, I’ll keep all of you updated with news on the planned Kickstarter and any possible changes to it.  I’m also counting on each and every one of you out there for your support.

That’s it for today.  Meanwhile, sign up for the Sunnyville Stories mailing list if you haven’t yet.  Stop over to DriveThru Comics for digital copies of Sunnyville Stories.  Copies ofSunnyville Stories Volume 1 are still for sale on Amazon, both in print and Kindle formats!  While you’re there, be sure to pick up Sunnyville Stories Volume 2 and (if you love Gothic horror) Von Herling, Vampire Hunter!  And now available is the latest installment of the saga, Sunnyville Stories Volume 3.  Get them today!

Copies of all the above titles are available to the library trade via Brodart Company and to retailers from Ingram and Baker & Taylor (via BCH Distribution).  Copies are also available direct from the publisher.  For ordering information, contact maxwestart(at)gmail(dot)com or write to:
