You’ve heard me talk about it in some of my past blog posts and video logs. I will be going to Buffalo, New York to attend an event known as the Buffalo Small Press Book Fair.
The Buffalo Small Press Book Fair will be taking place on Saturday, March 24th, 2012 from 12-6pm at the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Buffalo, NY. Oh, did I mention that admission to the event is free?
I know what some of you might be thinking. I draw comics. This event, the Buffalo Small Press Book Fair, is about…well, books! Why would someone who draws comics care about a book fair?
Actually the show is not just about books. Many others will be attending, including artists and zine makers! The main purpose of my visit is twofold: I will network and I will gather as much information as I can about the bookstore market.
Why is the bookstore market, retail, and distribution so important to me? The reason is because of the planned trade paperback I’m putting out of Sunnyville Stories this summer! It’s not just going to be for sale in comics shops and at conventions. I plan to acquire an ISBN number so it can be sold through Amazon.com as well as brick-and-mortar bookstores. Attending this event will provide much insight into the bookstore market and how it works.
Oh, did I mention that I’ve been wanting to try beef on weck for ages? FYI, the beef on weck sandwich is the official sandwich of the city of Buffalo.
I’ll be blogging and tweeting live from the event. If anyone out there reading this blog will be in attendance, be sure to say hello if you meet me. Till then, see you at the Buffalo Small Press Book Fair!
