I have some rough pages of Sunnyville Stories #12 to share today. Let’s take a look, shall we?
These are the rough inked lines for the first page.
I used my usual pen points for drawing these. The thicker lines of that file cabinet sticking out was rendered with a Speedball C4 nib and the lettering done with my usual C6 nib. All the other lines were drawn with 512 and 513 nibs.
The opening for the story is supposed to be a noir-style mystery narrated by Rusty. Besides old detective movies, I took the beginning and ending from the 1980s cartoon C.O.P.S. (not to be confused with the live-action reality show). At the start of each episode, a file containing the title of the particular episode (with its crime covered) was shown and narration gave background details on the caper. That’s what I intend to do here.
This page will look much better once it gets inked. For the cake in the foreground, I’m definitely going to have to use a thicker line to make it look bigger according to the rules of perspective.
Here, Lars and Helga Eftirmatur work on their cake. I messed up while inking the letters in Helga’s name (as you can see above). It’s a good thing I have white paint ready to fix this.
That’s it for now.
