Off to New York City tomorrow

Tomorrow, I depart for New York City as part of the Sunnyville New York Tour 2016.

While I will be visiting family and a few old friends, this is also a working vacation.  As I explained before, I will be visiting Carmine Street Comics.  Besides photos, I intend to talk to Jon Gorga and the other staff to see what’s going on and what’s selling.  I’ll also be talking with them about Sunnyville and my latest idea, Ingmar the Wanderer.

I’m also intent on visiting Jim Hanley’s Universe and Forbidden Planet.  While shopping is what I plan to do (got some gift cards!), it’s important to make note of what they are selling.  Both of these stores soundly rejected carrying Sunnyville Stories.  I’m honestly not upset about this as these shops will be more likely to carry things they think will sell.  But I did notice that Forbidden Planet carries Cerebus the Aardvark and reMIND by Jason Brubaker.  Those are independent titles and my work is every bit as good as those so I know it’s not a bias against anything not Marvel or DC.  But nevertheless, I’ll note what’s being sold there and tailor an appropriate strategy.

My experience of living in New York City and then moving to a small rural town was the main inspiration for Sunnyville; that’s why visiting there and seeing how living in a city really is important.

Well, that’s all for now, readers.  I’ll have another post up after I touch down.
