Welcome back, friends, on this lovely Saturday for yet some more pages to the very first episode of my work, Sunnyville Stories. When we last left Rusty and his family, he and his parents had finally arrived in the little town. Rusty was wondering about his new house…and now he’s going to get his answer.
It looks like Rusty’s parents ended up buying the proverbial handyman’s special…or maybe they just didn’t do their research well enough. It’s quite obvious here that nobody’s lived in this house for quite some time. Rusty’s wit comes into play as well. On a technical note, I used a brush for that thick, matted grass in the front and a Hunt 99 nib for the rest of the unkempt lawn.
Perhaps the inside of the house looks better than the outside…or maybe not.
It’s quite obvious that nobody’s lived here for awhile. The inside of the house is pretty bad looking. Incidentally check out the bottom panel. The inked version of the page is quite different from the pencilled version of the page.
Al, Rusty’s father, is grabbing onto the floorboard panels after falling through. But if you notice the pencils, he didn’t hold onto anything. I was showing this to colleagues and they kept asking what was holding up Rusty’s father. I should have it that he was grabbing onto something to prevent himself from falling through. That’s why I have Al grasping the floor panels in the final inked version.
Things aren’t working out for Rusty. His new house is a dump and it’s going to take a lot to make this house livable. Indeed, it seems the Duncans have bitten off more than they can chew. I wonder what the rest of the house looks like…however, that will have to wait until next Saturday. We’re out of time for this week so be sure to tune in next Saturday for the next pages of Sunnyville Stories episode 1.
