Worlds Apart

About two months are left now before Anthrocon 2012. I’ve chosen the four pieces that I will display in this year’s art show. I’ve had to give this a lot of thought and I’ve selected carefully. I’m going to share with you four works over the coming weeks I’ve selected to be displayed at Anthrocon.

Prints of this are available over on my DeviantArt store.

This may look familiar to some of you. It’s the title image I use on the page for the first episode (which is free to read).

The original title of this piece was “City Boy, Country Girl”. I changed it later however. The expressions I gave to Sam and Rusty as well as that dividing line prompted a more meaningful title. I picked a phrase from the 1983 song by Journey called “Separate Ways“. The opening line of that song is “Here we stand, worlds apart…”

Basically, Rusty is coming from a separate world. He is coming from a big city around the start of Sunnyville Stories – a place that is culturally and psychologically different from the small and remote hamlet of Sunnyville, the world of Sam. In a way, they truly are worlds apart.

This is the first of the four piece picked for the Anthrocon art show. After my coverage of the MoCCA Festival 2012, I’ll share some more.

That’s it for now. Don’t forget to subscribe via email or through RSS if you haven’t already. As always, questions and comments are welcome.
