At the time this post goes live, I have a lot of things I’m doing. Among them (and my top priority) is Sunnyville Stories #11. As one of the goals is to make the series mature and really show off what I can do, I’ve been aiming to open up the world some more.
To that extent, I’ve been developing some concept artwork.
I had to go back and check out my photo references. On top of that, I had to consult my copy of Scott McCloud’s Making Comics.
In some of the first stories, I had a wide open establishing shot and this is a possible idea I may use. It’s my intent to use this to “guide” the reader into the story.
As you noticed in the script, I wanted to show a short montage of the other shops in Sunnyville and this is another concept I had.
I’m glad also I don’t have an editor looking over my shoulder; in the interest of “protecting the children”, he’d probably command me to take “tobacco” off the store sign. The thought of an editor looking over my shoulder and saying that I can’t draw something is really aggravating to me. And also there’s one more thing…
The Flaming Carrot will be making a cameo in Sunnyville #11. I have gotten permission from Bob Burden. He’ll just be a background character and will have no bearing on the plot of course.
That’s all for today.
Sunnyville Stories Vol. 1 (ISBN 9780615653921) is still for sale on Amazon. Copies of Sunnyville Stories Volume 2 and Von Herling, Vampire Hunter are for sale right now at Great Stories. Check out Direct Textbook too for more details on my books!
