Interview and Cerebus Sketches

I have various bits of news to share today.

First, one of my goals for 2016 was to get at least five interviews and already I have three of them!

First there was Root Beer Party.

Second came Self Publisher’s Showcase.

Third came Indie Book Butler!

That’s not bad…but there’s so much more to do.  While the Internet is a handy source of material for landing interviews, I want to get coverage in at least one form of print media.  That’s why I’m talking to trade journals covering comics and other forms of entertainment; I’m also open to any fanzines wanting to interview me or ask me about my work.  If you represent such a publication or even a media outlet (television or radio), please contact me.

Meanwhile, some of you are probably curious about Sunnyville Stories #14.  The script is finished and after one final revision to make sure everything is okay, the thumbnails will begin.  I already have a cover prepared – it will be my “Bon Vivant” painting of Rusty Duncan.  Since one of the two special guests in Sunnyville #14 will be Cerebus the Aardvark, I worked up some model sheets.

Cerebus is NOT easy to draw.  This was my third attempt at doing a model sheet of the face of Cerebus.  Besides having to dig out my Cerebus phonebooks (I own the first four), I did find some handy reference online that I used in making these sketches.

Again, these are meant to be for my reference.  Cerebus is harder to draw than I thought; this was my fourth attempt at drawing the character in poses.  Hopefully, his appearance should go smoothly.

I’ll have a script excerpt up next week.

In the meantime, copies of Sunnyville Stories Volume 1 are still for sale on Amazon, both in print and Kindle formats!  While you’re there, be sure to pick up Sunnyville Stories Volume 2 and (if you love Gothic horror) Von Herling, Vampire Hunter!  And now available in Kindle format is the latest installment of the saga, Sunnyville Stories Volume 3.  Get them today!

Copies of all the above titles are available to the library trade via Brodart Company and to retailers from Ingram and Baker & Taylor (via BCH Distribution).  Copies are also available direct from the publisher.  For ordering information, contact maxwestart(at)gmail(dot)com or write to:
