Reflections on Sunnyville Stories #14

Sunnyville Stories #14 “Epidemic Proportions” has been finished.  The final pages should be on on DeviantArt this weekend.

It was quite a challenge.  I not only went through so much while creating this story, but it taxed my drawing skills.  Some out there reminded me that I need to get my ability up to par; once I wrap up the next few projects of mine (which won’t have much more to finish), I can take my planned sabbatical.   But as for the story itself, it gave me much to think about.

When I first started Sunnyville Stories way back in 2009, I was quite naive and went into it with a passion since the universe of Sunnyville was a blank canvas only depicted in notes and in a handful of concept drawings.    Now I have done fourteen whole stories and while I look at the next stories with anticipation, I look at them too with anxiety.

Sunnyville Stories has gotten much harder to draw and to create.

Some of you are reacting to that last statement with skepticism or surprise.  You wonder what I’m talking about.

When Sunnyville was just a story or two, there wasn’t much that existed of the universe.  Now that mythos has grown substantially.  Every story I do adds to that.  Every story I do has to follow what has come before.  Every story I do must build on or add to the mythos.  To be honest, when I started, I thought it would get easier as I went along but now it’s getting harder.

I don’t know what challenges lie ahead.  Sunnyville Stories will not get easier as I go forward.

I’m counting on the support of all you fans, readers and everyone else out there in the years that lie ahead.  Wish me luck everyone.
