Picking up from where we left off last time, Rusty is feeling dejected after failing his math test.
As always, Sam is there to show Rusty that it isn’t so bad.
I’ve been having some problems lately with the Speedball 513 nibs that I usually ink with. The ink sometimes creates blotches or pools up unexpectedly. Your mileage will vary as pen nibs are very fickle. Some will last a long time while others last a short time. Some won’t work right and others make every type of line other than the one they’re supposed to make. Ultimately, I had to break open a new package of pen nibs to continue.
Sam may be telling Rusty that things aren’t that bad…but Rusty’s mom clearly has another viewpoint. The scene with Rusty literally bumping into this mother while on the way home? That’s been in my head for a long time and this was the first time I got to draw the scene itself. There’ll be more to this in the next post – some of which was based on my personal experiences, but that will have to wait.
