I follow the Muddy Colors blog, a cool blog done by top commercial artists like Donato Giancola, Dan dos Santos and Jesper Ejsing. Anyway, they recently put up this cool blog post about using type in your work. While the science of typography is more extensive and can’t be covered in a single blog post, that is a good reference still.
I do like commenting on these posts BTW to talk shop and also share my own input. I even clued them in on some of my own favorite texts talking about type!
