Dominic and Claire Work Part 4

Well, readers, I have a few announcements to make in this brief post.  First, to those of you who backed the Sunnyville Super Special #2 Kickstarter – the first rewards have FINALLY gone out!  I have sent out a round of PDF copies of my comic book to you backers.  By the weekend, the physical copies of the comic will have arrived and those can start going out.

Speaking of the weekend, this Saturday December 8, 2018, I will be vending my comics at the Toys Collectibles & Curiosities Expo in Moorhead Center Mall of Moorhead, Minnesota.  Be there as it is free to the public and cool merchandise will be up for sale!  Plus there are some great places to eat in the mall like Everest Tikka House and Jay’s Barbecue (which has AMAZING mashed potatoes).

Anyway, as for the Dominic & Claire comics, they are nearly done.  I finished the two main stories.  All that remains at this stage is to do the filler pages will have some standalone gags and an editorial page.  Then everything will need to be formatted for the printers.

Applying grey marker to Dominic

The colors seem to be working out well.  Markers still remain a popular choice for illustration, especially in advertising and picture books, since one can work quickly with them and produce finished art in a short amount of time as opposed to acrylics, watercolors, etc.

Coloring a background character

Coloring the comics is quite labor intensive as opposed to the black & white work I usually do.  Should I progress to a mini-series (direct market or other channels) or even an ongoing series, I may just revert back to black & white comics.

I’ll have more news on the Dominic & Claire spin-off from Sunnyville soon.  Stay tuned!
