And we continue on!

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to reveal my plans for 2017. Some of you are wondering what exactly is planned for Sunnyville Stories, my other creations and myself in the coming year. Well, sit back, relax, get a cold drink (and maybe something to eat) and allow me to tell you what’s happening.
First and foremost, three conventions are lined up. I will be selling Sunnyville Stories books at Fargo-Moorhead Comicon in February, Corecon in June and Valleycon in October. As this blog post goes live, I’ve just mailed out applications to Comicon and Valleycon. I’ll be contacting Corecon later today to find out about registration. I don’t know if Anime Fargo will be a place I can sell; as I reported before, I failed to get into their artist alley this year. We’ll keep you posted on further developments. Continue reading
One of the things I resolved to do to make Sunnyville better was to practice my drawing. I haven’t had much chance lately as life drawing sessions at the local museum were cancelled or couldn’t be made (I couldn’t make it last week due to Valleycon). In spite of this, I’ve been practicing handling a pen and drawing whatever I can.

That’s just some practice drawing hands. I was taught that hands and feet are very important to draw. The late Jack Davis (EC Comics, MAD magazine) was renowned for drawing hands and that’s how he got so much work. Continue reading
At present, I’m still working out my schedule for conventions, appearances and events. I can’t simply rely on my Internet sales alone at this time; it’s important to get out and stump for Sunnyville Stories as well as personally connecting with both buyers and potential fans.
The following conventions planned for next year are all in the Fargo-Moorhead area. They are:
Fargo-Moorhead Comicon (Feb. 2017)
Corecon (June)
Anime Fargo (September)
Valleycon (October)
Corecon and Valleycon will be definite ones for me as I will be applying for them. I will apply for Anime Fargo again but whether or not I can get into their artist alley depends; I was not able to get in there this year. Presently, I’m on the fence about whether or not to apply to Fargo-Moorhead Comicon; that’s geared more towards mainstream material than small press comics like mine.
I have some more appearances to work out too. On the advice of AP Fuchs, negotiations are underway for book signing in some local bookstores. There’s just a few in the Fargo area but further into 2017, I aim to do more in North Dakota and Minnesota. There’s also some leads that were generated for doing talks at some schools in North Dakota and Minnesota.
There’ll be more surprises in store and this list of appearances isn’t final. Stay tuned for more news as it develops.
Well, friends, it’s all over. Valleycon 2016 has ended.

The final day of the convention didn’t see as much traffic as it had on Saturday. Continue reading
Today saw Valleycon 2016 kick into high gear. There was a lot of activity as much foot traffic went through the dealer room. There was no shortage of people in costumes either.

ATTENTION!
For today only – Saturday October 15, 2016 – there will be a special promotion being held at Valleycon at the vendor table where Sunnyville Stories is sold.
Today only, from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Central Time, anyone who comes to the table and says the secret code phrase “SUNNYVILLE STORIES IS AWESOME” – they will get a 5% discount on any purchase at the Sunnyville table!
Whew! What a day I’ve had…

I spent some considerable time setting up my wares. I had copies of Sunnyville volume 1, 2 and 3 as well as Von Herling. Plus there were plenty of copies of Free Sunnyville for me to hand out. Continue reading
