Rusty and friends seem to have bitten off more than they can chew, encountering a vicious lion.
I like that cobweb I drew in the upper right corner of the bottom panel. Continue reading
Ladies and gentlemen, I have a special announcement to make. You remember that last year over Halloween, I undertook and succeeded at the 24 hour comics challenge. Today, I learned that 24 Hour Comics Day is upon us; it’s set for Saturday, October 1, 2016 this year.
Once again, I will take the 24 hour comics challenge. Like I did last time, I will produce a 24-page comic within no more than 24 hours from noon on Saturday, October 1 to no later than noon on Sunday, October 2. Continue reading
It’s been quite some time since I’ve done a book review so today I plan to talk about a handy manual that can help you in drawing comics. The main tool used in drawing comics is the pen. Some out there prefer using the brush and I have talked about that on this blog before. But for me and many others out there, the pen is the number tool in drawing comics, be it the technical pen, the marker or the dip pen. So how can you improve your pen drawing technique? Today, I can recommend a very good book on that. The title in question is Drawing in Pen & Ink of the “First Steps” series by Claudia Nice, published in 1997 by North Light Books (ISBN 9780891347170).

Picking up from last time, there’s a lot that was considered when I began to devise the idea of Sunnyville. The characters of Rusty and Sam were there from the start. Before doing the townspeople that lived in Sunnyville, I gave thought to the families of our protagonists. Sam’s family was a challenge because I felt that her own parents should play a role in how her personality should be.
I always intended Sam to be sweet and motherly; this was because her own mother is such and served as a positive role model to her. When it came to Sam’s older sister, Margaret, I originally had a different idea for her. Continue reading
Ladies and gentlemen, we all have heard of things that could have been in popular media. There were films that were conceived but never made, sequels unproduced, music albums never recorded or current creations out there that started out being very different.
There was a lot about my own Sunnyville Stories that was planned but not done. A lot of creative works out there – books, movies, television shows, and so on – are like that. Some ideas never came to pass or never made it out of planning stages. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share with you ideas that never came to pass in Sunnyville. Continue reading
