I have a partial script done for Sunnyville Stories #11.  It’s quite a challenge as doing the tenth story took a lot out of me.  I also had to review my story treatment several times.  Anyway, I just have a cold open for this story.  Let’s take a look at what I have so far, okay?

As always, the general store in Sunnyville was busy. It was the only real store in town that sold everything. Dave Sim, Awards and Sioux Falls

Progress on Sunnyville Number 10

Work is continuing slowly but steadily on Sunnyville #10.  At the time of this writing, 15 out of 31 pages total have been inked.  I’m about halfway through and I’m pleased this story is one of the shorter ones.

The Road Not Taken

We all wonder about the road we didn’t take.  I’m sure you readers have thought about this yourself from time to time.

I always wanted to do something creative with my life.  I tried making it as a writer and failed at that in a major way.  In school, I actually wrote poetry but it was never published.  I also auditioned for a puppeteer troupe while in high school; I was summarily rejected for that.  The rejection destroyed me inside and sadness filled me for days.  Looking back at that, it’s probably just as well – I know people who work with puppets (like the famous Rapid T. Rabbit and Friends of New York City) and it is NOT easy.

In college, I actually tried to apply for Blue Man Group!  In my final semester at Baruch College, notices were posted for Blue Man Group looking for new talent.  I wanted to try out, but never even made it.  It turned out I was too short (you had to be about five foot ten to even be considered).

Anyway, Rusty is wandering through the vast wilderness surrounding Sunnyville and encounters someone.  Rusty’s joke, as I explained before, is a shout-out to the 1979 film, the Muppet Movie.  Kermit the Frog and many of the characters make that joke throughout the movie.   Continue reading →

Scripts for numbers 11 and 12

Work continues on Sunnyville #10 at a slow pace, but it is coming along.  There comes the next phase…the writing.  Once I finish one of Rusty and Sam’s adventures, there’s no time to rest.  I have to start all over again with their next adventure.

Sunnyville Stories episode 11 is going to be titled “The Artful Dodger”.  Much like the eighth story, it’ll be a parent versus child conflict.  Sam’s older brother, Rolf, will be returning and we’ll meet Sam’s cousins too.  They’ll be debuting in this next story.  The theme of the story is intended to be choosing a career.   Continue reading →
